What color were ALCo Prime Movers?
Posted by Southgate 2 on Friday, July 26, 2024 1:46 AM

I have a couple of ALCo prime movers, a 12 cyl, and a 4 cyl and their generators I want to paint up in the right colors. Were the generators the same color as the engine? Thanks. Dan

I don't know specifically about US roads  but here in Australia, New South Wales 12-251s were painted Grey while South Australian Alco prime movers were painted Green.  I seem to remember Canadian motors were also Grey when I saw them in 76/77.  Did not see many US Alco units back then!

Hope this helps
