I guess I had been assuming that an expansion joint wouldn't work on a steam line but I suppose given the weights involved it's not as big of a deal as I was thinking.

How are the steam and exhaust lines routed on a Garratt style locomotive?  Both overall and specifically how it handles traversing the joint between the central frame and the engine units.
