When did the CN&W line between Eland and Rhinelander, WI get abandoned?

I assume that you meant C&NW?

As the article that Bear listed indicates, the line may have been abandoned in the early 80's but there was very little traffic on the line once the former Flambeau 400 stopped running. Traffic flowing to Ashland had really slacked off by the 1970's so I would say that the line was really closed down in 70's, just like many other parts of the C&NW.

There was heavy iron ore traffic between the mines in the Ironwood, Mich. area, and the ore dock at Ashland.  Probably some winter season all-rail ore movement south of Ironwood.  The last mine closed in 1967.
