I recently scooped at C&BT boxcar kit at a train show the other weekend and wondered what the prototype for it would be. The instructions say it is a AAR steel boxcar but it doesn't appear to be a 1937 one. It has different ends and what looks to be 10 foot doors and a taller interior height than the 1937 version.

C&BT boxcars are mostly if not all models of the 1944 AAR design boxcar. I don't like the grade of plastic they are made of and would rather have models made by Branchline (now Atlas) and Red Caboose (now Intermountain) in replacement.

Rule 1: This is my railroad.
Rule 2: I make the rules.
Rule 3: Illuminating discussion of prototype history, equipment and operating practices is always welcome, but in the event of visitor-perceived anacronisms, detail descrepancies or operating errors, consult RULE 1!
I scooped it up for $5 so I didn't think I could go wrong. That being said, I think I will replace some of the detail parts with Tichy since the ones that come with the kit appear over sized.
