There were countless variations of 40' Pullman Standard (PS-1) boxcars, so which plan for what 40' low cube boxcar?

Tangent Scale Models offers some versions that Kadee has not already modeled.

As is always the case with items from Tangent, the parts are extremely well-done, and the assembly instructions very precise and easy to understand.

Thanks for your effort Maxman.

I'll see if I still have that issue. I have a couple of the Tangent cars but some of brake arrangement looks suspicious to me. The coupler cut lever is also totally wrong.

Okay, with much effort and energy I managed to unearth my copy of the June 2017 issue of Railroad Model Craftsman.  There is an article with photos of a CB&Q Pullman Standard 40 foot baby hi-cube boxcar.  There are also photos of several other road names.  The article was by James Kinkaid.

There are also drawings by Mr. Kinkaid showing the top, side, and B end of the car in S scale.

I considered scanning the drawing of the underframe and posting it, since copying was allowed for non-commercial purposes.

But, in the article, Mr. K. mentions that Tangent had made a model of a similar car. Someone mentioned on this forum that Tangent had on-line instructions for assembly of their unassembled model.

So, if you go here

https://www.tangentscalemodels.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/Instructions-for-Building-Tangent-Scale-Models-PS-1-Mini-Hy-Cube-Box-Car.pdf

and scroll down to page 12, you will see how the underframe is to be assembled.  That assembly resembles Mr. K's drawing pretty closely.

Why would the brake rigging be any different from any other period PS car?

I believe that the June 2017 issue of RMC had a drawing of a PS 40 foot high cube drawing by Jim Kinkaid.  Unfortunately I don’t know if he included the under frame layout.

If I remember in the morning and can find that issue I’ll let you know one way or the other.

Are there any plans available for the Pullman Standard 40' HiCube boxcars? I am building some of the HiTech Details kits and need plans of the underframe and brake rigging.
