FWIW I finally found a match I'm happy with. My guess of Conrail Blue was proven to be correct. Now it's just a matter of getting another sheet of decals ordered (need two sheets) and getting the incorrect numbers replaced.

BigDaddy

I saw this thread earlier and having never heard of a Peavey Hopper I looked in the usual places for a photo.  The problem with photos is no two are alike.

To me, the fact that no 2 look alike is not a problem it is actually a plus since the OP would then not have to painstakingly try to match the colors exactly

and as you said, even a small bit of weathering can hide the fact since not every car weathers, fades and rusts, at the same rate and effect an exact color match is not necessary

For my timeline, these are fairly new cars so there wouldn't be much weathering. This is a better image for the blue in question: https://photos.app.goo.gl/m5bhv57X1ZQnDXYBA

As I said previously, given that is was SC II painted according to the instructions, I'm thinking if I match it to one of those I could come up with a match in another line. (I'm ignoring what I previously mixed after seeing the SC II factoid.)

Edit: I'm almost leaning Conrail Blue but I'm not exactly sure.

The ones I see are a lighter blue than your sample.  I would suggest adding a small amount of white to the mix.  I think weathering adds character and at the same time it cover a lot of sins of not starting with the exact paint color.

Rereading a set of instructions, the hoppers were painted with Scalecoat II paint. As I am not familar with the SC II colors and the fact the line is no longer in exisitance, could someone suggest what color these hoppers are?

The blues I see from the chart I found are D&H Blue, B&O Royal Blue, C&O Blue, B&M Blue, Conrail Blue, RI Blue and GN Blue.

If any has any suggestions from those colors, it would be most appreciated.

Resurrecting this post as I have a start for a color but need some ideas on how to proceed. See this link: https://photos.app.goo.gl/EVzpCtj1UhsAW5ZB9. The sample in the lower right is the paint I have at the moment. (Tru-Color GECX Blue with a bit of Engine Black mixed in.) Anybody got any ideas what to add to the mix to get it close to the color of the rest of the piece? Any suggestions would be most welcomed.

Yet another one for my Forum friends. What is a good match for Peavey hopper blue? (The darker one) I have an old Walthers Airslide hopper painted for Peavey but it has the wrong number. In the process of trying to remove the number, paint was removed. I can work with and mix almost any water or acetone based paint except Mission Models. (I have had nothing but problems with the two colors I've used.)

As usual any assistance that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.
