Signals?

Hello!
As I was going up to Lake Geneva w/ my Youth Group for a wntr. Retreat, of course, I saw some trains but, there were some wierd signals. They had the ones that are circle, like the old ones on the PR, but right next to them, they had other ones. For example: a signal facing west, and then two of the newer hood covered ones facing south and north. What are the extra ones for? Thanks!
