I bet it was a fun ride in the middle of winter on that thing in any of the states UP ran in.

It is a crew carrier but it also has a hydraulic system and a reel for hydraulic lines to operate hydraulic powered hand tools (hand tamper or wrench).

The yellow arm on the left looks like a mini crane. Also looks like some reservoirs and hose or cord reels.

I came across this heading north on US95 in Henderson, NV. Headed away from the closest railroad museum (Boulder City, NV) and if he was going to Arden Yard (Las Vegas, NV), he missed his turn off.

It has seats front and back so it can carry upto 6 people but it certainly had nothing that would require 6 people so my first inclination is a transport for workers to a site.  But what is that thing on the left side? At first I thought it was a winch but when I blew it up I am more inclined to think it is a fan or blower. Some UP Modeler will probably know.

Can someone elaborate what this is and what it is used for?

Thanks, Terry
