Probably thousands of us have owned an AHM model of IHB's finest in O, HO of N scale. But what did it look like for real? And what did Trains long time Editor David P Morgan think of it?

It sounds like he was as enthralled as the rest of us.
He commented one time about seeing one as he rode through Indiana on a passenger train. As I recall the only time he saw one
It is a magnificent locomotive.
And with Gresley valve gear, just like a 4-12-2!

Any bigger and it might have to be, well, maybe an 0-10-2. And then you'd want an auxiliary locomotive or a tender booster to start the load the thing could pull...
Rivarossi made a static O gauge model that could be powered of the IHB 0-8-0 i had one on my desk when I worked. It apparently had a tender booster truck in real life as the model front truck had side rods.
