I saw this neat little JL structure being offerred by Factory Direct Hobbies.

I had never heard the term "junction house" before and wondered how it differs from a depot or freight house. It looks like there are tracks leading out from the double doors which indicates to me it is for a hand cart and the junction house is some sort of track maintenance facility but that is just a guess. Can someone shed some more light on this. It looks to me the structure as is could be used for a small town depot.
It is a railroad Section House for storing railroad mainteance equipment with space for a hand car or speeder.
On the JL Inovative Design site it is called East Junction House. East Junction is the location of the prototype for the the model but the railroad where it is/was located is not given. They also have an East Junction Yard Office kit.

If I'm not mistaken, some section houses were actually also houses for the section man/men who were responsible for maintaining a particular section of track, especially in otherwise remote areas.
My railroad isn't long enough to have sections of remote track, but I do have section houses for speeders or for what we called jiggers, as hand-pumped rail vehicles used to check track.
Since I have track for two different (but affiliated) railroads, the paint is the same, but the style of the structures differs.

This is currently the only one for the Grand Valley...
...but these, also with cottage-style roofs, will be added on the partial upper level, which is also Grand Valley track, when time permits...
Just down the track from the first photo, is where the Erie Northshore connects to the Grand Valley, and in the photo below, a Northshore locomotive is passing one of that road's section sheds...
...further down the line, in Elfrida, another Northshore section shed...
...and one on the outskirts of Lowbanks...
and another in Port Maitland, on an inlet of Lake Erie...
