Spiegel, located at 1038 West 35th Street, was part of the Central Manufacturing District in Chicago. Its catalog house was serviced by the Chicago Junction Railway which was instrumental in developing the Central Manufacturing District.
Here is a link to a document with a fair amount of information about Spiegel and the Chicago Junction Railway. There are several references to the Chicago Junction Railway. Of particular interest to you may be the short discussion on page 20 of the Landmark Designation Report (page 22 of 36 of the PDF document).

This handy dandy railroad map may help. If you zoom right in to the area in question it may have the name of the RR printed on the map.

Would anyone out there know what railroad serviced the area of 35th street and Racine in Chicago. One of their customers would have the multiple buildings of the Spiegel catalog company? Any information you have would be greatly appreciated.
