Brass Part - for an old Yellowstone 2-8-8-4 - Turbo Generator
Posted by RobertCrichton on Friday, December 11, 2020 3:36 AM

Hello,

My first post so apologies if I am not in the correct forum for this question! Hope everyone is well?

I have a growing collection of 60's /70's and early 80's Brass. One of them has a missing Turbo Generator part - its a Yellowstone 2-8-8-4 (the real one is preserved ...Duluth, Missabe & Iron Range No. 225 | Locomotive Wiki | Fandom )

I think i have inserted below a link to the model - showing a simple photo showing the Samhongsa exposed brass area where once sat my missing part!

Can anyone point me other than hunting ebay for a good place where I can find the missing part please - the after market part for makers like CAL-SCALE ? I did think on buying a plastic model and cannibalising that part buy would prefer to find if anyone has better ideas...

many thanks everyone!

Have you looked at Precision Scale Models?  Check out their Steam Catalog.

Contact English's Model Railroad Supply (Bowser).  They carry most of the full line of Cal-Scale detail parts, not the tiny amount shown in the little yellow catalogues formerly offered by Cal-Scale, but rather hundreds of parts used on brass models from various manufacturers.

Another place to look would be Greenway / Trackside Specialties.  I cannot speak to this particular part but they are one of the best sources for parts for brass locomotives.

The problem here seems to be that Greenway is hibernating. I wanted to order a display case and their web site states:

"In keeping with our usual annual pattern shipping will be closed on October 27, 2020.

Shipping of orders will be resumed in April or May of 2021."
