You said your layout was 85'x45'. Did you mean 85 FEET and 45 FEET? That WOULD be a big one, about as big as three pretty large basements. Or did you mean 85 inches by 45 inches-- that is, a little over 7 feet long by not quite 40 inches wide, good size for a beginning HO layout or a pretty big N scale layout.

A little word about the forum. This part of the forum is about specific REAL railroad operations and equipment as they apply to the model. Get information here about, how did they handle grain shipments on the XYZ in such and such a year, and what cars did they use? And which model is the closest to that particular real thing?

There is also a forum on "Layouts and Layout Building" which would be a good place to post your note about your layout, and get feedback from people who like talking about layouts. (I do that sometime, and sometimes I design layouts to fit people's space, just for the fun of it, even though I may have that particular space for my own layout...)

If your model train topic doesn't fit into either of those, you might consider the "general modeling" forum.

Anyway, happy railroading and happy foruming. (Is that a word?.....)
