Original 1937 Southern Pacific Daylight
Posted by Jones1945 on Monday, July 8, 2019 6:29 PM

Hello all,

I am looking for the dining car model (HO) for the 1937 SP Daylight train, I can only find the triple unit dining car built in 1939 and 1940. I would like to know what was the dining car used on the original 12-car consist Daylight of 1937, thank you very much!

This is the site that I use for my Daylight passenger car interiors.

I couldn’t come up with a streamlined diner but I did find a heavy weight floor plan.  I also use the interior pictures to create my interiors.

There are several very nice HO interiors on Shapeways.

Good Day,

I am no authority on SP passenger equipment but I do have some documentation that may help in your search for Daylight equipment.

I was tempted to buy one of Broadway's 3 unit diners as they were selling at closeout prices a short while back but I resisted the temptation Whistling

Hope that helps, Ed

Oh MY! Amazing photo collection of the Daylight train! Thanks a lot, Ed and Mel! With the help of our forumer, now I know that the diners I was searching for were SP #10200 and #10201.
