What lines of paints are you considering using?

.

If I were painting one, I would use Model Master RAF Trainer Yellow. It looks close, but I might add a little brown to tone it down a bit.

When I read the title of the thread I assumed Pier One stores had gotten into trains like Menards did a few years back.  My mistake.  Dunce

That search is what prompted the original question. Since there is so many hue. Variations.  Of course lighting conditions affect that too.   I guess as long as it is within reason it should be ok.      No graffitti though. Not adding that.

Thank you Wayne

I've got Rail Box Yellow in both Floquil and Pollyscale, and they're pretty-well identical in appearance.  To my eye, they look close to those real cars which appear to be freshly painted, although a little red added would put them even closer.
For the faded yellow cars, also in the same link, I have a bottle of Scalecoat I Chessie Yellow, which looks like a pretty good match.

However, it's my opinion that if you can tell when a suggested colour is "not right", then you should also be able to tell when a colour "is right" or know how to alter an existing colour to make it "right".
