CSX Surprise this morning
Posted by josephbw on Saturday, August 11, 2018 11:42 AM

I went to town to get some diesel for my tractor. The station is next to the CSX double track mainline (former Big 4 -  NYC line). As I was finishing up, a 3 engine train roared through town pulling a solid train of brand new loaded CSX coal hoppers. It's been years since I have seen a unit train of coal hoppers on that line. Hopefully that will continue. Big Smile

That sounds neat... Could you tell if they were loaded? It sounds like they were since you called them coal hoppers.

Yes they were all loaded with stoker or slightly larger grade of coal. It was westbound, possibly from Kentucky or West Virginia.
