Chuck, according to Morning Sun's "Chesapeake and Ohio Color Guide to Freight and Passenger Equipment", yellow was introduced as a replacement for red on cabooses at the 1956 stockholders meeting. Yellow improved the visibility over the red.  ALL of the yellow scheme cabooses in the book had grey, not aluminum trim.

Can anyone tell me when the C&O began painting their cabeese yellow?  Also, should the gray be silver?  Thanks!
