gmpullman It seems like the Amarillo Railroad Museum has a decent collection of equipment. http://www.amarillorailmuseum.com/white-train Their web site is, um, lacking. Might be worth a trip with a camera and tape measure? https://www.tripadvisor.com/LocationPhotoDirectLink-g30165-d5494759-i312283297-Amarillo_Railroad_Museum-Amarillo_Texas.html Cheers, Ed

at 860 miles that is out .
Two additions to add. First, Pantex not only built nuclear weapons for submarines, but also for aircraft to carry, artillary shells, land mines, nuclear torpeados, etc. Second. I worked at a DOD location that has an ammuniton area. It used to store nuclear weapons of all types. The special igloos are still there.
That "white train" engine in the picture in the article was a an Alco switch engine, certainly NOT an engine you would use on a trainload of nuclear material. Now that might be the plant switcher for the Panatex plant. I have seen a video of a protester who sat down in front of a switch engine spotting cars at one of the weapons facilites and got run over.
Dave H. Painted side goes up. My website : wnbranch.com
Ah the 50s the atomic age where everything was possible and the dangers of nuclear/radioactive material were not oft thought of.
Still should be interesting to see and operate, good luck!
Steve
If everything seems under control, you're not going fast enough!
NWP SWP Shhh, this is top secret, go home wait for the phone to ring three times, the fourth time answer if the voice doesn't say "thunderball" wait for it to ring five more times, then leave your house and walk north, you will pass four hobos the fifth will say "lightning bolt" that means go down the next alley and there you'll find the information you seek. Just kidding, will you be building a so called "white train", will you possibly place some of the protesters of the trains existence trackside?
