Hi,
can any body say what´s the right horn with name for the BCR no. 753 (a SD40-2)!
Thanks forward!
Christian from Germany!
I think your asking what the name of the horn is on #753, and I'll go out on a limb and say it's a Leslie S3L, as that was the most common horn on North American railroads.
But, there is something that appears a little different in these pictures:

On one of the BCR forums, a BCR employee said that all BCR locomotives have/had "Airchime K5" horns. His gripe was that CN changed them out with whatever was laying around the shop when a replacement was needed.
Now that being said, there was a fellow called Robert Swanson that made the
"O Canada Horn" in Vancouver that can be heard from extreme distances. He was a sound engineer that loved making horns. I believe he had something to do with the horns on the B.C. ferry fleet and at one time years ago each ferry had a custom horn designed by him. He was involved with the RR and you can read more here.

I think he may have had some of his work on PGE now BCR locomotives at one time and this may lead to some loco horns being unrecognizable. I stand to be corrected on this as it was a long time ago.

Now that I've seen a picture of the K5, it sure looks like whats on the 753, going by the third picture on the link I posted.
