I search for a prototype picture of NYC 77131. It is a 40 foot box car with two doors.

Thanks forwart!

According to an online roster

http://www.canadasouthern.com/caso/NYC-MODELS-FREIGHT2.htm

the 77000 to 77499 series of 40'6" "automobile" type boxcars were rebuilt in Beech Grove in 1962 (and lasted to 1977, although my 1967 ORER suggests the series was already getting depleted) from cars that had followed this equipment diagram (not really a scale drawing)

The original class car with a built date of 1947 looked like this:

So again, just to be clear the photo and equipment diagram are for the car BEFORE the rebuilding.

I assume you are asking to check the accuracy of the Maerklin car that comes with this number?  I am unable to find a clear photo of a car in this series as numbered.  The jade green paint scheme would seem generally correct for a car rebuilt in 1962 however.  I would think finding a photo of ANY car in the series that was taken after 1962 would be helpful although admittedly there were variations on NYC cars with placements of herald etc.

I think my interpretation of the roster info is accurate although NY Central is not a railroad I have many reliable resources on.  A Morning Sun book or two might be more helpful.

They are.  Page 55 of NYC Color Guide 2 shows 77144 in Jade.  There is also a better shot, also in Jade, of 77140 on page 79 of Guide 1.

The car is roughly similar to the Trix/Marklin.  However, it is not a match.  The model has a different number of side panels, and the outline of the bottom of the side does not match.

Whether the mismatch is overly-irritating is an individual choice.

The car is said to be a model of a Union Pacific A-50-16.
