Uses FEC metallic paint for their GP40-2 (e.g. 432)? The Athearn model is very glossy but the prototype photos are from dull dirty (mud?) to bright glossy (rain?).
What is the real kind of paint FEC uses on their GP40-2 this days?

I'd find a blue that matched the Athearn color, and fade and weather to your liking, using the prototype pictures.
I'm sure a long and exhaustive search will eventually get you to whoever/whomever paints FEC's locos, if finding the "exact" color match is what your looking for. It seems the 4 axle units are the blue.

Modelers worry too much about getting the color right.
Not everying is painted at the same with the same batch paint so there will actualy be slight (and in some cases very obvious) variations in color. Weathering adds even more differances.
Colors alsos look different in different lighting conditions even outdoors.
The size of models and indoor lighting make even more differences in our perception of color.
Awhile back there was a post about a modeler who used paint from a railroad paint shop on his models of the railroads boxcars (he worked from the railroad). Many who saw them said they were the wrong color.
The point is to get a result that looks good to you and not worry about getting an exact match.
I tried to sell my two cents worth, but no one would give me a plug nickel for it.

Did FEC paint the GP40-2 432 with the usual blue paint or was is a special glossy / metallic effect paint?
I assume FEC fans from Florida can answer that question easy.
