Hello all. I just came in from running trains out in the shop and decided to put my Western Pacific Mikado on the track for a change. As best that I can gather W.P. used the heavy Mikes back in the 1920s and 30s. I love mine. It was made by Kato and it runs like a Swiss watch... I use mine to pull old school freight.

I don't think that the KATO 2-8-2 is a perfect match for any of the WP's locos, but they operated some classes of 2-8-2s into the 1950shttp://www.wplives.com/motive_power/srosters.php

I dabble in WP, since I model the Rio Grande. After all, we paid for your railroad

Is a roundhouse outside braced caboose on the rear of your transition-era freight?
I use an MKT one on the back of my transition era freight pulled by Athearn Genesis MKT F3's in Red/Slate Grey.
I, too, dabble in WP, since it ran on the BN up to Seattle:

7j43,
Is 3523 a GP38-2 or a GP40-2?
I see a GN F7A hooked up to a BN F7B and part of what looks like to be a Green and Black GP30 on the left side.
3523 is a GP40.
I must admit that I am a fan of the Western Pacific as well!
Mostly because on my railroad the WP was the negotiating party in the merger between itself the SP and NP.
