Modelling Pueblo, Colorado

We're modelling the D.&R.G.W. from Pueblo to Colorado Springs in the '50's and need information, drawings and/or photos of various structures, specifically Pueblo Union Depot and freight station, Pueblo Yard Tower, Holmes Hardware, etc., plus the Colorado Springs station. As some of these structures still exist, perhaps someone in the area could snap a few digital shots and take a few measurements, as we're in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Thanks.

Chevy--unfortunately I don't have the means to transmit photos over the net, but if this helps, there's a book published by Sundance Press, 250 Broadway, Denver CO 80203, Tel.# 303-777-2880, entitled GEORGE L. BEAM AND THE DENVER AND RIO GRANDE WESTERN RAILROAD, vol 1. Beam was the official Rio Grande photographer during the early half of the 20th century, and made a complete photographic record of the line. Vol 1covers from Denver to Pueblo and west over Tennessee Pass to Grand Junction. There are quite a few photos of Pueblo and Colorado Springs in the volume. I think the book is still in print, even though the material pre-dates the 1950's by a decade or two. This might be of some help, since I don't think the stations in Pueblo and Colorado Springs changed very much over the years.

chevypane- as a personal observation thats the Joint Line and in my 2 years researching the DRGW- probably the least interesting part of the RR to some extent. Mainly flat land and could be a rr anywhere/ anytime exceot for the names. However who am I to criticise your choice ? I'm creating a fictional 'branch' in N scale in 4x2!

I'd suggest checking in and joining the DRGW Yahoo List; among others these have a wealth of info; and ready access to 'experts'

Pretty neat terrain around Palmer Lake, and of course mountains to the west of Pueblo. The thing I liked about the Joint Line circa 1983 was you would see a wide, wide variety of trains: DRGW, ATSF,BN, UP, MKT, KCS, MP etc between Denver and Pueblo, even USATC there in Colorado Springs.

It may be less interesting in terms of scenery, but it has a lot more operational opportunities. Ft. Carson was also an influence on traffic.
The RGMHS has engineering maps of the Pueblo and Colorado Springs yards, which provide more detail than the ICC valuation maps. These maps show everything you might need in modeling the two yards (and to determine what you might want to keep when downsizing). In that era, you'll be able to have several passenger trains (The Royal Gorge, The Colorado Eagle, The Texas Zephyr, 15 (that went to Alamosa)). As indicated before, Jim Eager may be able to provide you with some information, also look for Maxwell http://www.colong.com/ photos and drawings.
