Neat pictures everyone!

OK, I'm curious. How do they get the various track maintenance cars on and off of the flat beds?

Dave

Found this HO scale

https://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/cfn/cfn7016.htm

Lots of HO scale modern maint equipment on the site

I tried to sell my two cents worth, but no one would give me a plug nickel for it.

I don't have a leg to stand on.

Were Magnetic Rail Defect Detector and Sperry cars used for maintenance?

I think that those are "for-hire" services, and are mainly to find the defects.  The railroad or a "for-hire" contractor usually do the maintenance work.
Here's some NS maintenance equipment at Enon Valley, PA.....

Cool find.  That caboose is an ex-LV, ex-CR, ex-CNW Northeastern style caboose.  One of the last of its kind still in service.

I believe this is the same crane and caboose.  I caught it at Rochelle in 2014.

Modeling whatever I can make out of that stash of kits that takes up half my apartment's spare bedroom.

My American derrick is unpowered, but the real ones were powered, and were capable of moving several cars...

Not sure what I just saw at Rochelle webcam.  It was a flatcar with a crane, another flatcar with something on it and a caboose.  The three cars were moving and there was engine noise, but no engine, maybe that was the second flat car?
