Dave, if I get hold of one of these little critters I'll definitely reach out to you for lighting and such. Smile

Hi bibbster:

bibbster
I'm not planning on DCC at this point, but you never know. lol

The lights can be done with LEDs in DC too. You just have to add a rectifier to the circuit, and you can get them so small now that they would be easy to hide.

I think Dave is also the resident expert when it comes to putting a motor in these little tykes.  Smile, Wink & Grin

Thank you for all of the links to possible speeders for kitbashing. There are some good choices there. I'd definitely like a working model, so if/when I end up with one, I'll reach out to you, Dave on the lights. I'm not planning on DCC at this point, but you never know. lol

This one is cast metal, and is fairly heavy, but it's a static model, from Durango Press...

Bachmann made an HO speeder set which is no longer in production but appears to be available on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/p/Bachmann-HO-Speeder-With-Work-Crane-Cart-16946/1701473939

The Bachmann speeder  isn't an exact match but it's pretty close. The front windows are a bit small. The sides of the Bachmann speeder are open but it would be fairly easy to add side panels and doors. The headlights are different, but again, that could be changed.

Note that the Bachmann speeder actually runs whereas the other examples don't. If you are going to use DCC it is possible to mount a TCS Z scale Z2 decoder in the Bachmann speeder with minimal change to the appearance.

http://www.tcsdcc.com/Customer_Content/Installation_Pictures/HO_Scale/Bachmann/Speeder/TCS%20Decoder%20Install,%20Speeder.html

If you are interested I could show you how to scratchbuild headlights to match your prototype AND make them work with DCC.

If I were doing it I would close in the sides not just for appearance but also so that more weight could be added.

At first I thought the speeder might be a Fairmont MT-14 like mine:

Image result for Frisco twenty grand

But the window profile is different.

I believe the speeder in question is a Fairmont A-4.

Speeder

The prototype is most likely a Fairmont speeder.

There are HO models of several different Fairmont models.  A search would probably find one suitable for bashing.

I tried to sell my two cents worth, but no one would give me a plug nickel for it.

I don't have a leg to stand on.

So, in another thread I started, my wife and I are going to model Cass Scenic RR. I've been digging through photos and found a couple items of interest that we may like to add to our layout at some point. Does anybody have any idea what these two items are and if they are available in HO?
