Hi I am looking for a livery for the CNRR, I am not much of an artist so I would like to know if anyone has any ideas or would like to help me out?

Just to clarify the CNRR is the Cascade Northern R.R. my freelance model railroad. I am looking for a livery for the CNRR fleet, preferably a navy, burgundy, and light grey/white. Thank You!
I recommend searching photo sites and google images for schemes you like and incorporating those. Locomotive builders often designed paint schemes too, which is why B&M, MEC, DRGW, and others all had similar painted units. This will add a sense of realism to your CNRR if you have similar schemes to a parent or sister road. In other words, it wouldn't be a stretch to take a Northern Pacific scheme, and swap the colors out to show a subsidiary.
You also don't even have to switch colors, you could just add sublettering. The Colorado & Southern, and Fort Worth & Denver did this as CB&Q subsidiaries. Their locos were painted the same CB&Q Chinese red scheme, but with sublettering for C&S, or FW&D.
A benefit of copying another road's scheme is that decals may be readily available from Microscale or another manufacturer, and will save you some trouble. If you decide to fully design your own scheme, decals will have to be custom printed, and there is a minimum fee for setup (and design if you don't do that), along with the sheet cost.

I would be inclined to keep a regional identity. B&O used blue and gray because their route followed the border between the Union (blue) and the Confederacy (gray). Seaboard made its living moving citrus from Florida to the Northeast, so they adopted a flashy Citrus inspired scheme of green, yellow, and orange. I understand the orange and red of SP relates to the Golden State of California. I'm not sure what colors to suggest for the Cascades, so use your imagination.
If your railroad has a financial tie to one of the prototype railroads of the region, you might want a scheme that is influenced by them.

When I think of the name Cascade Northern, the image that comes to mind is light blue and white similar to Great Northern's blue livery. A cascade is a type of waterfall. This color blue reminds me of water. After reading the article on painting freelance locomotives in this months magazine, this may be a good place to start.

Sure it will. The Big Sky Blue scheme was also applied to F-units, Geeps, and other first generation units.

Umm is anyone good with photoshop or graphic design who could make a livery using navy, burgundy, and a grayish white? Also white and grat can be separate if four colors are needed! My prospective schemes are the GN Big Sky Blue, SP Daylight and Black Widow, and MILW Hiawatha schemes; but any multi color livery could be a possiblity. Thank you.
Hi I am unexperienced when it comes to graphic design how would I take a livery of a road and change the colors, lettering, logos?
I would suggest doing some sketches by hand with colored pencils to find one you like. That way you can do several quickly, and try different color combinations. Once you find one or two you like, then one can go into a computer program and make your scheme.

Well after scouring the internet looking for a livery, then giving up having not found one, I finally stumbled upon a BEAUTIFUL livery for the CNRR! I was looking at the Athearn EMD SD70ACe locomotives and I saw one in a blue CN livery I have never seen before! Eureka!!!! I had found the livery for the CNRR! Anyway now I just have to make a CNRR logo like the CN "Wet Noodle" logo! (That should be easy!)

Or I could just stick with CN's classic logo. (It would surely be much easier!)

None at the moment this is just a "scouting expedition" so to speak.
I found another possible livery the UP's MoPac Heritage Scheme! Logos would have to be replaced but its a nice livery.
