you can see what someone did with regard to having a separate storage area. Note the rotary dumper on the right. This setup is pretty big, and I think one could go much smaller and still have it work.

It appears the search function on the Walthers site is pretty awful.
I have had it tell me items, including their own stuff, wasn't in the catalog or discontinued. Even some of the newer Walthers buildings and all. Pretty lousy search engine.
If I remember the Tri-State kit was a long time ago.

The model looks pretty small to me. Which is just fine for a lot of people's layouts. I do wonder if you could get several a splice 'em up for a biggy.
As far as coal getting into the plant:
The model may have a spot for dumping coal right at the building. You can kinda see from the picture what the designer may have had in mind. If my interpretation of the photo is correct, then I expect you'd shove in a hopper at a time. This implies to me that there's a space inside the building to store at least a hopper's worth of coal, since electrical generation uses coal pretty continuously and smoothly over time.
I expect the model could be converted to a different delivery system, as in a nearby dump building and storage facility. This would allow more room in this building for generation equipment.
As far as what building Walthers modeled, I haven't a clue. It surely would be neat to find out.
Hi Modern_Conrail:
First, welcome to the forums!
I couldn't find a reference to structure 933-3055 on Walthers web site. I searched the kit # as well as a verbal description, and I included discontinued as well as current items. Is there a possibility that it is from another manufacturer?

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Hello all, I have a few questions about this Walthers kit (933-3055). I know it has been not in production for a few years now but I just got me one for my Modern Conrail layout. With that said, I have a few questions.
1. Does any one know were Walthers got the idea to build this kit or what this kit is model after?
2. Actual operation of this facuilty, is a hopper car ment to be switched into this building one at a time or is there a conveyer system that feed coal to this building?
