My guess is that they wouldn't have built the passenger station between the tracks and the grain elevator and siding came after passenger traffic ended. I always like a good mystery that I can solve on the internet, but a lot of the times info that may exist in the public library, newspaper or historical society and isn't cataloged on line.

Thanks for all your help. Seeing two tracks on one side and one on the other side.I've spent about two weeks researching this station. Apparently not too much info out there. Actually been kind of fun. Going to buy that book.

I did see a letter to the editor from a former station master. His subject was when the station actually closed, but referenced a photo of himself in this book Edit I misspoke, the station master was listed in the book, no mention of a photo. Passenger traffic ended 1966, freight 1981

I have been looking for any photos of the Portales NM station. I would like photos when it was in use. Building a HO layout based on this station. Would like to know the layout of the tracks and general layout of the depot. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
