Empty Tank Car Placement
Posted by west willow and laurel on Thursday, September 22, 2016 3:07 PM

Hi All:

On my layout i deliver empty tank cars that will be filled with soya and vegetable oils at a processing plant.

Is it acceptable to deliver the empty cars to the plant directly behind the locomotive?

Vegetable oils are not considered dangerous commodities like petrolem and many other chemical liquids, so those special handling rules do not apply.  Even the loads can be directly behind the locomotive.
