delray1967I just detailed a couple of E8's and I didn't want to wait for the detail parts (or pay the shipping which was more than the detail part) so I filed some small strips of styrene into a curved shape, glued them on top of the oval exhaust stacks and painted them black.
I have used Evergreen's small half round shapes for spark arresters.
The ABS plastic is releative cheap and has over thousand and one uses.

Even though they aren't see-thru screen, they look pretty good (and they were free and I didn't have to wait). The cast parts from DW or DA...the screen looks too coarse to me. If you can find a very fine screen material, it wouldn't be too tough to scratchbuild them yourself.

If you click on the pic in the prior post for the spark arrestors, it shows where they go. They're attached to the two exhaust stacks on the diesel to keep sparks from coming out.
Any idea on placement? Im at a loss

What is the part name of those weird things that stick up by the exhaust fans. Sorry for poor terminology, I'm more partial to 2nd gen. I however plan on modeling this prototype.
