Green - began their switch to black in '58. Some engines were still green into the '60s.

I believe Larry Puckett is a Southern expert.

Dissemination was completed circa 1953.  E everything would've been green and off-white.  Here's a prior thread that should help more than I, though.

Southern Locomotives in 1955...Green or Black?
Posted by JWhite on Monday, July 4, 2016 6:57 PM

The Southern is one of 4 railroads that served Centralia, IL which is the main focus of my layout set in 1955.  I know they completed dieselization prior to that, but I need to know when they changed from the green to the black paint scheme on their locomotives.

Any Southern modelers here who can help?

Thanks,
