Glancing at Rock Island diesel rosters, I don't think CRIP ever had a diesel 2031...

Not sure what you have.  There are no FA's listed in CRIP's (Chicago Rock Island & Pacific) roster that match what you have, as far as color and number. 

A Google search only came up with Lionel FA's, numbered 2031.  It might be a Lionel "fantasy" scheme, but I'm not sure.  If you do have a Lionel, "O" gauge, you might want to check out the other forums in here like Classic toy trains.

Just a suggestion.

EDIT:  What I did notice, while searching RRpicturearchives, is that the Alco FA's they had were built in the late 40's, and many were rebuilt by EMD in the mid 50's.
