Thanks guys, the help is appreciated. Based off photos on the FallenFlags site and other places, I'll be leaving one as-is, and painting the other with the blue stripe.
Modeling whatever I can make out of that stash of kits that takes up half my apartment's spare bedroom.
The yellow cars could still be in service today.. Cars are not automatically repainted. I still see Family Lines and Seaboard System covered hoppers with CSX by the numbers.

You may need a CSX expert. C&O became part of CSXT October 31, 1987. Im not an expert on either, but I do have a HO scale covered hopper (3217 CuFt) C&O 2162 (Exact Rail or Intermountain?) that has a blue bays, but no stripe. Dates on car BLT 7-59 and GR 11-73.

Howdy, I have a pair of Accurail Chessie System covered hoppers I am planning to weather, but I have a question on the paint scheme. I model 1988, and ca. 1990 photos I find of these show a blue stripe on the bottom side sill, and blue bays.

Photos from the early 80's show all-yellow cars, which match the accurail model.
My question is what is the timeline for adding the blue stripe? I havent seen any photos 1981-88 that show the changeover. Are the all-yellow cars appropriate for 1988?
For reference the two cars are numbered: C&O 603497 and WM 602438.
Thanks in advance.
