This is local thing, about the WSOR, they have parked a string of Cryo-Trans reefers in Elkhorn, WI on the spur that goes to the Itertractor plant. I didn't get any pictures. Just wondering if anyone on here is familar with the WSOR, and what is going on with these reefers.

The railroad is probably being paid by Cryo-Trans to store undeeded Cryo-Trans reefers on an unused spur.
Intertractor does not appear to be shipping by rail (no railcars visible in Google aerials) There are no other industries on the spur, and there do not appear to be any industries in the area that would be served by the reefers.
I tried to sell my two cents worth, but no one would give me a plug nickel for it.
I don't have a leg to stand on.
Yep, I haven't seen gons or flats, which Inter-Tract used to get, there in a long time. They had steel shipped in and they make tracks for Catapillar, and many others, that use steels tracks to move.
The only industry on that line that uses reefers, is the Birds Eye Frozen Food plant in Darien, just west of Elkhorn.
I've worked on additions to the Birds Eye facilities, and usually no more than 3 or 4 cars are spotted at a time, bringing in big boxes, fastened to special pallets (there's a name for those pallets that I don't remember), that contain bulk frozen veggies, to be packaged into the bags of mixed veggies you buy in the freezer case at your local grocer, under the Birds Eye brand. Product comes in by rail, and leaves by truck. They have a huge trailer spotting yard, if that's what it's called.
The string of Cryo-Trans cars is way out of the ordinary, so I thought maybe somebody in here that's close to the WSOR (now owned by WATCO) would know what's it all about.
Thanks for the reply and thoughts.
Mike
Those cars are probably Birds Eye cars, but won't fit on the Birds Eye track. They would be called "constructively placed", so the per diem clock for the customer can start.
Sitting in the Intertractor spur is probably a good place to leave running refrigerator cars, away from houses and so forth.

Thanks Mike, I was hoping you would come along and see this thread. I couldn't remember your user name in here, as I was going to ask you direct.
It was a quite a sight, which I have never seen before. Production at Birds Eye must be picking up, since I was there last, working on the additions.
