I'm guessing this is the one you found?? It's not very large, but does give you the plan...

That's the only thing I found online. If you don't want to buy on book on Pullman cars, you may need to check at a local library to see if they can find a book with the diagrams in it?
Walthers did make interior kits for all four Palace Cars, each came with a diagram of the plan. The sleeping car kit was 933-743. When new they cost I think $3.95, they turn up on ebay or RR flea markets once in a while, usually for $5-10. Includes the seats and that, but you need to build your own interior walls from styrene or cardstock. Otherwise, several manufacturers make seats, sofas etc. that you could use.
Or, failing that, a top-down photo of a model that's had the Palace Cars interior installed?
Interiors and people figures make such a difference. Especially the people.
So, um. Would anyone be able to provide a scan or photo of Plan 1845B? I've looked and looked and still the only image I've found has been that one from a foreign message board that wouldn't let me see the full-size image.
Your reply was quite helpful too, thank you. You told me just the plan I needed. I would have replied sooner, but I was caught up in trying to find an image of said plan. Google was being anything but helpful. I've managed to find one image of it so far by searching for Plan 1845B, but it was on a foreign message board that wouldn't allow me to view the full-size image. I'm currently seeing if searching for the "Brazito" will produce useful results. It did find me a free e-book of "The Car Builders' Dictionary", which might have what I need amongst the pictures inside (still scrolling through it).

I built all four of the MDC Pullman Palace Car kits back in the 1990's, using Walthers (wood and metal) interior parts/kits. I used Plan 1845B, as shown on page 282 of "A Century of Pullman Cars: Volume II, The Palace Cars" by Ralph L. Barger, as a guide. (I imagine if you Google "Pullman Plan 1845B" you'll find it online. In the book, the car "Brazito" is shown, you might try searching for that to see how it was decorated - it was fancier than later heavywieght cars.)
It's a 7-2 design, 7 Staterooms, 2 Drawing Rooms. All the rooms are one side of the car, with the corridor along the windows on the other side.
One thing to keep in mind is these car kits are VERY light. I'm thinking of re-doing my cars using the Palace Car Co. kits, as their kits come with a drop-in gray-painted metal floor that acts as a weight. (I used their products on a couple of old AHM / Rivarossi heavyweights with excellent results.)
EDIT: Okay, I did find the interior you were talking about, BurlingtonSteam. My bad. But buying an interior isn't an option for me, especially at Palace's prices, and the product photo doesn't give an idea of the floor plan.
I apologize for my outburst and for calling you a shill.
Do you have, or does your public library have, Arthur Dubin's classic old book Some Classic Trains and the sequel, More Classic Trains? He has some old Pullman floor plans that might enable you to "reason backwards" from the window arrangement on the MDC car.
Dave Nelson
do a search for MDC palace car co. Interiors
there are complete interiors made for these cars
No, no it is not. I specifically said the Pullman Palace sleeper that Roundhouse made a kit of back in the day, which is a heavyweight with vestibuled ends.
Also, the webmaster of that site REALLY needs to close it until he can actually be bothered to make sure all the internal links actually go where they say they do.

"One difference between pessimists and optimists is that while pessimists are more often right, optimists have far more fun."
I picked up an old undecorated black Pullman Palace sleeper by Roundhouse at my LHS. I plan on building an interior for it, so it would be nice if someone could provide the Pullman floorplan it most closely corresponds with. I have tried Google image searching, with little luck.
