Thanks for showing me youops. That is something along the lines of what I have in mind except that since I have very limited space my trains will be a lot shorter and the emphasis will be on switching the cars out quickly so the next set can arrive. I have no room for Long trains so I am planning on going with 12 cars using cassette staging in the form of 2 six car trainsets and switching the cars individually in and out of the facility with a single GE 70 tonner (Since I already own that) and then having a Conrail Geep pull the sets in and out, again using the SIWs current roster.

7j43k I looked at some on-line shots of Tropicana cars, and didn't see any drawbars. The couplers have really long exposed shanks. Perhaps that's what you're seeing. I saw some single cars. Hence, no drawbars on them. Also, when cars are drawbarred, the tendency is to call the whole thing a single number, and sub-number the units with letters. This ain't the last word on the matter--I am not a Tropicana guy. BUT. I'm not seeing drawbars. Ed

I think you might be right The couplers on the modern Juice train are long shanked.
However since she's since the SIW will be set in the 70s 80s time frame or really doesn't matter. Just wondering based on what I saw.

If your going to always run them as a unit, then each having its own number may not be needed. That is the way I have done it when I always run the same group of cars together.
But if you need something to do on these winter days, then it is a good way to keep busy.

They also send some as loose car shipments to City of Industry, CA. They travel between Atlanta (if I remember correctly) and City of Industry on intermodal trains.
I am not aware of any Tropicana cars permanently connected together.

Others may be able to say with more authority, but I doubt that any of the Tropicana cars are drawbar-equipped. Traditionally, they go north in solid trains, and then may be dispersed. They return separately, as they are emptied, and may be seen in various trains. Over the years, my 12" = 1' 0" train often played "tag" with the northbound juice train.

1st question: I will defer to those who have more knowledge of drawbar equipped or not. Simple enough to change if they are so equiped.
2nd question: Pencil eraser dipped in micro-sol micro-set, and go slowly, while removing the old numbers. Only change last one or two digits. New numbers with any decal to match of your choice.

So my juice cars arrived and I have some questions about them. The first is that looking at the prototype it appears that there are drawbars separating the cars into groups of 3 to 4 cars. Am I correct about the this?
Second all the cars bear the same road number. What's the best way to renumber them.
