I posed the same question on the Model Railroad Hobbyist discussion forum, and a helpful soul searched his library and found that on page 19 of Delaware & Hudson Bridge Line Freight 1960 - 1983, Volume 2 South End by Dominic Bourgeois, there is a picture that suggests that the rear end was solid yellow with no shield or hearald of any kind. Thanks for everyone's input! Off to the paint booth!
Thanks for the info. Pics appear to be as plentiful as hen's teeth!
On all three, the solid yellow nose was painted solid blue to match the burgandy stripe paint-over. The top yellow border stripe on the side was brought down the nose in a "V" like the typical D&H nose stripe.
751 and 753 both had nose headlights, so a small shield was placed under the headlight and just above the yellow "V". 752 had no nose headlight, so it received a large D&H shield on the nose.
On the battery box doors below the cab windows, all three units retained the burgandy "Radio Equipped" lettering.
I have pictures of all three numbers both with and without small shields on the cab sides. After thoughts ? ....
The rear of these units is solid yellow. I can't seem to locate my rear shots at the moment to verify what (if any) was on the rear for heralds of each individual unit though.
Mark.

I was wondering if they did the same or similar to the SD45's : http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=846458 or http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=3063866 the first looks like a faded shield, the second, just a herald patch out...
I believe they just patch painted the yellow to cover the logo. And no shield.

I found this nugget that looks like they left the rear yellow: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1027827 you can just see a bit of the rear on the third unit.
I would then assume that they replaced the EL logo with a DH shield...but what size?
I think they have a pic of what you're after in the new Morning Sun book about Dereco. (I'd look, but I don't currently have the book.) Sorry that's not much help.
Oh, I see.
Well, now it's way over my head. Good luck. The info's gotta be out there somewhere.

Thanks, I've not been to that site before. I will poke around. I know that the EL locos had the yellow rear, but I'm wondering what the D&H did to the paint, ie stencil over the EL lgo w/d&h shield and call it good, or paint over with blue and then a shield? Or scare stripes? Thanks again.
Here's a picture of the rear of an E-L U33C:

You might not have looked there, because the site is known more for "scenics", but I often find rosterish infor there, too.
I am woorking on a set of U33c's in the D&H's quick repaint scheme-painting over the EL maroon with blue. The trouble is that I can't find a photo of the rear end. Howvwas this painted? Left yellow? Scare stripes? Does anyone have a photo to share? Thanks!
