Need help with the SP Daylight color scheme
Posted by RR_Mel on Monday, July 13, 2015 5:10 PM

It’s far from prototype but the windows are un-tinted and I’d like the interior colors to be somewhat close to prototype.  I kitbashed a 85’ Bachmann Full Dome to a ¾ dome but it doesn’t look right with my 72’ Athearn cars.  I have a lot of pictures of the prototype but all are black & white.

I have finished the shell and have the interior primed ready to paint.  The floor plan is reasonably close to the prototype car #3600.

The Lounge Bar is at the far left, it’s also a lift out 2½ oz. weight.  I have a second 2½ oz. weight under the top deck over the trucks on the right end of the car bottom.

I’m going to use 1:100 figures in the dome seating area and 1:87 in the lounge.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Thanks Wayne

I’m constantly looking for 1950s era SP sites and this is one I missed.  Great site with great info and pictures.  From riding the Golden State in my teen years those pictures confirm my memories of light yellows & orange interior walls with grey & blue chairs.  The SP didn’t run a ¾ dome lounge on the Golden State route but I do.

Thanks again for helping this old ESPEER.
