Railroads almost never owned their own tank cars except for fuel and water cars in company service.

Atlas notes on its website that both the 17,600 gallon and 23,500 gallon tank cars painted for Southern Pacific are "alternate history paint schemes."

I tried to sell my two cents worth, but no one would give me a plug nickel for it.

I been looking and searching for Southern Pacific tank car pictures and information.

Did the SP owe any 17,600 gallon tank cars that Atlas is making in the 67,000 series?

The only information that I found was tank cars Southern Pacific bought were the 9,000 and 12,000 series in 1965.
