Earlier colour sheme of FEC' s Fs

Hello everybody.
I am trying to model the FEC, and because there is not too much stuff available (especially when you do not live in the states...) for this prototype, I've come to colouring the models myself. But there is a problem: Which colour do the sides (I mean the short sides with the diaphragms, you could also say back or front sides) of the F- or E-Units have. To be more precisely, I'm looking for the earlier paint sheme in red-yellow-red. On the new, blue versions the sides are blue, too, up to the diaphragm. But for the old painting version there are either b/w-photographs, or the pictures are taken from a position, from which you can only see the small stripe on the side, on which the painting sheme from the long side continues.
I hope anyone can help me, or at least understand what I'm trying to say (I think I'm better in translating the other way round [:D]).
Yours
Matthias
