Thanks to everyone for your guidance. I am going to use the IMEX suggestion and fab my own bodies.

1-87vehicles are good. Also, have a look at
www.classicmetalworks.com
1957 was a good year for Chevies by the way.
Hope it helps.

I have two suggestions, Magnuson, put out by Walthers came out with a 53 Ford cab over engine wrecker. Most of the line trucks that I remember from back then used that cab. I don't know if you can still find them, but look around.
Also IMEX makes a good looking 40's International that still would still have been in service in the 50's.
For both of these trucks you will have to fabricate your own bodies. The line bodies were high sided, rounded tops, and open 3/4 way down the middle.

Chack out this site as a starting point to see what might be available

http://www.1-87vehicles.org/

I tried to sell my two cents worth, but no one would give me a plug nickel for it.

I don't have a leg to stand on.

Modeling the New Haven, circa 1957, in HO. Layout has coal fired electrical generation plant. Looking for service trucks used by the linemen to set poles, string wire, etc. Couldn't find anything in 2004 Walthers. Can anyone suggest a source?
