What type of covered hopper to deliver flour?
Posted by hawkhero on Sunday, November 3, 2013 5:55 AM

I am planning to model a bakery that will receive corn syrup tank cars and flour in covered hoppers. What kind of covered hoppers are used today to ship flour? Are Airslide type still used? Does anyone know how the flour is off loaded from the hopper?

Thanks,

Greg

any dry powdered bulk commodity like flour is usually shipped in cars like the airslides or later in the newer style pressure differential cars with greater capacities.  the outlets pipes are on the bottom of the car on either side.
