Thanks to a phone call to English's down in Pennsylvania, I found out that Tru-Color makes both shades of Erie green.  Now, to get time away from work and *ahem* family duties so I can give the gray-green a shot (pardon the pun).

  • The Erie dark green looks like MEC green, or maybe New Haven Hunter Green to me.  I think the official name of the light green was "light gray-green."  Hm, maybe it's closer to a military color (RLM?  Soviet?) than a "railroad" one?

Was looking at a photo and those cars look like a shade of green similar to Maine Central engines, or is this incorrect?  The other color looks like a gray shade to me.

Erie passenger paint

Does anyone know if acrylic paint is available for the Erie's two-tone passenger paint scheme?  I know Accu-Paint used to make both shades of green, and Scalecoat apparently makes them, but Accu-Paint apparently went under, and I don't want to use lacquers like Scalecoat.  If they're not available right out of the bottle, does anyone have a formula for mixing them from Polly SCale or Model Flex paints?

Thanks for your help.
