Grand Trunk Railway Colors
Posted by Sailormatlac on Saturday, November 12, 2011 8:58 AM

I'm think about painting few of my vintage 4-4-0 in GTR colors since a while. All my searches are dead ends went I venture before the 1890's.

Does anyone have an idea of what was the standard livery of GTR back in the 1860's and 1870's. Don't panic, I'm aware GTR had quite a lot of different liveries, but just knowing one would be enough.

I'm remember seeing an old picture showing a 4-4-0 in what looked like a olive green (brunswick maybe) boiler, but I couldn't find it anymore.

This colorized picture show an other attempt that may be just a pure artistic license...

Any tip will help, I'm not striking to make a particular prototype, just to get the flavour.
