That's my concern is the difference between 1975 and now. I've got some VC coming up and I'll take the Hunting Cat with me. Had dogs but it's been years ago. Wife's got cats. There are some really good places around here Worries are taking pictures of tracksides instead of the trains. Lots of interest in people taking pictures of right aways by local officials. Still I going to give it a shot.

Well, if it's a nice day outside, take your camera, a sack lunch, and your favorite hunting dog (you DO have one, right?), and start taking pics. Otherwise, you're going to have to go through a LOT of books, magazines, and websites for relatively little return. I end up doing this sort of thing for hours on end, mostly because I'm modeling 1950, and things have REALLY changed in the past 55 years!

I have found tons of photos of locos, rolling stock etc. What I am looking for are pictures of junk laying around the rails. Any ideas.
