David,
A source you might try for earlier track plans, an outlet for U. S. Geodetic Survey quadrangle maps, is Maptech whose URL is:
http://historical.maptech.com/index.cfm
I haven't checked to determine if the Rugby quadrangles are in their collection.

delbou,
Rugby, North Dakota was named Rugby Junction (1886) by the railroad. It was named after Rugby England to attract English Settlers. I to grew up in North Dakota but close
to the NP. The GN HS is at www.gngoat.org. I'm sure they will have some great info,
that is when you become a member. [:)]

I was born and raised near Rugby. It is a small town that the railroad serves for one basic purpose-handling grain. going back far enough, (50's and early 60's) you would find wayfreight, milkhandling, and passenger service to both Minot and Devils Lake. If you have any questions contact me at randy@fsvmail.net.

PS Rugby is known as the geographical center of North America with a monument along highway 2.

Delbou,
Here's a link to the business directory of the Rugby area Chamber of Commerce Web site:
http://www.rugbynorthdakota.com/Directory/
I found it using the Google search machine offered by my ISP. You can see some of the other results if you do a Google search yourself or use some other search engine. I also did a Google search for the Pierce County, ND, historical society with the following results:
Pierce County
# Geographical Center Historical Society
102 Highway 2 East
Rugby, ND 58368
701-776-6913

* Dale and Martha Hawk Foundation and Museum
R R Box 19A
Wolford, ND 58385
701-583-2381

Sorry, no Web sites. ( In this instance, RR stands for postal Rural Route, not railroad.)
Plus, you may want to check Arcadia Publishing's catalogue:
http://www.arcadiapublishing.com/frame_catalog.cfm? CFID=758100&CFTOKEN=57355690
Look in the Images of America and Images of Rail sections. The way their catalogue is organized it takes forever to download, much less search.
Cheers.

It doesn't look like Rugby,ND is a thriving metropolis based on the lack of response. You may need to contact the GN historical society for further information.

I am currently attempting to research the Great Northern railroad facilities in Rugby, ND, with a view to building a layout, probably in modular form. I have an undetailed modern map, and a picture of the depot, but any information of the area, trackplans, lineside industry and environs, especially the late sixties/early seventies, would be most welcome. In return, as a resident of Rugby, England, I could offer similar information on the railways through the town.
