So doing a quick search of Evil Bay and some brass sites. Do you know of any models of the Kitchen cars or the lounge cars (save the observation) having been done?
Yes, they are of the pre-war heavyweight design which was used at that time. You will probably have to locate other cars used that are not Spectrum to get the consist more exact as well as some kit-bashing for detailed accuracy.
So would the Bachmann Spectrum Hvy Weight coach's and combine be a suitable car to use?
In PRR terminology the letter "P" simply means, passenger. The number that follows is the inside measurement of the cars length, with the exception of P85's. Any letter that follows indicates that the particular car had some sort of modification, sometimes affecting the outside appearance. For example the P70R was a modification where air conditioning was added. The P70 was a very common sight on the PRR.
PB70 was a coach/baggage car combo generally seen at the front of the train consist.
PL was a passenger, lounge cafe car. These had different chair and buffet seating arraingments.
I am trying to build the 1939 PRR Congressional and finally found a consist for the train. I have some cars purchased but I suspect that I may have bought the wrong cars. In the consist below I don't know what the PB, P, or PL designations mean. Could I get some help?
