Automax cars - What size wheels?
Posted by Metro Red Line on Sunday, February 14, 2010 4:00 AM

I recently got an (N-scale) Athearn Automax, an articulated autorack car designed to transport SUVs.

They're pretty HUGE, both in height and length. What size wheels does the prototype ride on? 28" or 33"?

If I may expand this a bit, what size were the wheels on bi-level and tri-level enclosed auto carriers?  And spine cars?  Or point me in the direction of an information source because I am also interested in the wheel sizes for the 86 HC auto part box cars.

Tri-level auto racks have 28" wheels.  Bi-level auto racks have 33" wheels.  I believe spine cars have 33" and 86' HC box cars have 36" wheels.

Tri level auto racks all have 28" wheels , most but not all Bi level auto racks have 33" wheels ( there are some with 28" wheels )

Most spine cars have 33" wheels

The 86'  box cars will have 33" or 36  wheels
