I'm looking for any infromation and/or pictures of this train. I am looking to
model this in N scale, but finding info on this train is like finding water on the
moon. Any help out there?

I remember the confederation train passing through the city in the late
seventys and took some photographs.they used modified pullman class
coaches with it painted as a rolling museum of canadian history.I recommend
you contact the Saint John Railroad Modular group and see what they know.

What you need is a copy of the Rail Canada book. 4th edition came out in 1990. The NMRA library may have a copy.
I'm surprised there isn't also a color guide to CN equipment. The Morningside books are great for things like this.
I bet Trains had good pictures in the day too.

The Confederation train was comprised of a pair of FP9A the lead unit was the former CPR1411 renumbered 1867 for its special service. The trailing unit was CNR 6509 renumbered 1967 for th Confederation train. The CN also supplied a steam generator car specially painted in the Confederation scheme. That scheme was grey, black, dark purple and light purple. The cars were provided by the CN and CP with both supplying five each and two in reserve. Everything was returned to the respective railroads in 1968 and repainted. The Confederation train operated in BC, Alberta, Sakatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and I beleive the cars even traveled to PEI without the power just the steam generator and diesels assigned to PEI.

There was a second train in the 70s (which eastern is thinking of) which I believe used cars from the American Freedom Train.
The Confederation Train had its horn adapted to blow the opening notes of "O Canada"
