Is the x23177 like this car? This is a technical research car that the NYC made from a former passenger car. This one has a large window in the end (to the left of the two gentlemen). It's shown in 1964 parked along the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie (an NYC subsidiary), just across the river from downtown Pittsburgh, PA. You didn't ask, but that's the PRR's bridge, and the Liberty Bridge in the background.

The "X" on that car appears to be in a similar font to the other letters, but slightly smaller. IIRC, that X signifies that the car isn't in revenue service, but being used for something else. I *think* the car was the usual 85 feet long, but I could be wrong.

Hi, I´m Christian from Germany,

I search pictures with different views of the NYC car X23177 . I also want to know the length and there are some detals with the special letters (like the NYC ´X´) or the word ENTRANCE in HO?

Thanks forward!
